Joanna (Jojo) Kendale

According to Jojo’s mom, she started doing algebra while she was still in a car seat. Whether this speaks to her love of math or her small stature is irrelevant: the point is Jojo has loved math ever since she was old enough to count.

According to Jojo’s mom, she started doing algebra while she was still in a car seat. Whether this speaks to her love of math or her small stature is irrelevant: the point is Jojo has loved math ever since she was old enough to count. The availability of advanced math classes throughout middle and high school allowed Jojo’s love of math to flourish, and eventually evolve into a love of science. She studied chemistry at Vassar College, and then worked on research projects at MIT and Mount Sinai Hospital before completing a research based masters in organic chemistry at New York University. At NYU she discovered the joys of teaching, and has been teaching upper level high school chemistry ever since; first at Columbia Prep in Manhattan, and now at Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart in Newton, Massachusetts.
