How do I apply to be a volunteer?

I am not a student but want to be involved, how can I be a part of GLAM?

Email us and we’d love to find a way to help you get involved.

What is the time commitment as a volunteer?

As a volunteer, you are required to attend at least one weekly hour-long session at your assigned school, as well as a weekly volunteer meeting (which is typically virtual). We also ask that you add in appropriate travel time to get to your assigned school – we don’t like to keep our girls waiting!

Given COVID, will GLAM be virtual or in-person?

We do our best to be in person as we feel the program runs best in-person. However, we are completely prepared on our end to pivot to virtual (again…) if need be! Currently, we are running some of our schools in person and some virtually.

How often are GLAM sessions?

We aim for once a week sessions that last about an hour after school during the school calendar year.

Are the volunteer instructors vetted?

Yes! Our volunteers have to go through an application process, which includes a one on one interview and background checks.

Donations

How do I donate?

Check out our donate page and donate directly through our Authorize.net page!

Are donations tax deductible?

Yes! Given our 501(c)3 status, all donations are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt at the time of your donation.

Where are my donations going?

All donations go directly to running GLAM and helping our students. Donations help with providing academic supplies like white boards, pattern blocks, etc.

Participation

How much will it cost my school to implement GLAM?

GLAM is FREE to implement in your school. All we need is a classroom in your school and some middle school female students who are excited about the program!

What do we need to supply for GLAM sessions?

We will need an available classroom at the same designated time and day each week and permission slips signed by parents/guardians. If the classroom has a whiteboard and/or a chalk board that would be appreciated but we also bring our own supplies too!

Can you work around our school’s schedule?

Yes! We will do our best to accommodate schedules.

Are the volunteer instructors vetted?

Yes! Our volunteers all go through an application process, which includes references and a one-on-one interview.

Is there extra work outside of GLAM sessions?

No. There is no extra work outside of GLAMsessions. But if there are girls who areinterested, we can certainly send them home with some fun extra math.

Are there resources accessible for my child outside of GLAM sessions?

We are happy to provide some fun math materials for your child to work on to sharpen their skills outside of GLAM sessions! Feel free to talk to your child's instructor or reach out to us for some resources.

Can I contact my child’s GLAM instructor?

Yes. We are always reachable via email and can set up a call too.

How can I be updated on what my child is doing in GLAM?

Feel free to email us and we will get back to you as soon as possible, and subscribe to our newsletter to get updates about GLAM.
